It’s no surprise that eating right and daily exercise can aid in preventing Dementia, but did you know that it can stop progression of memory loss and in some cases, reverse it entirely? Let’s find out how.

The Cause

Many things can greatly affect the progression of Dementia, such as depression, toxicity like Mercury, low Thyroid, low Vitamin intake, diabetes, and high cholesterol. No “cure” has been found for memory loss but luckily most of the things that lead to Dementia can be treated through eating right and exercise. The goal is to supplement what we’re lacking, such as vitamins like B12, or to get on specific diets that can improve cholesterol, diabetes, and poor thyroid function. This gives us a chance to fight back against memory loss, and with enough patience the battle can be won.

Unfortunately, sometimes memory loss is a product of a gene that lingers in the family and has been passed down, which can make it extremely difficult to slow the progression. However, it certainly can be managed better with a healthy treatment plan.

Treatment

While Dementia is a disease, it can’t be treated like one. Dementia is extremely common in older individuals and with thousands of studies, we realized that there is no cure for memory loss. However, there are separate treatment plans for each person. For instance, a man with high levels of mercury and cholesterol would consider a dietary plan along with vitamin supplements. This could greatly improve his memory loss, but while it can work for his treatment, there’s no guarantee it’ll work for someone else’s.

The idea is that none of us are on the same exact diet, doing the same exercises and taking the same vitamins. Treatment for someone with high cholesterol versus someone with low cholesterol would be different, they could not be on the same treatment plan and achieve the same results. This is helpful in Dementia cases because once a doctor has figured out what genes you carry, your diet, and the bits and pieces of your health that need improvement, they can create a specialized treatment plan that could hopefully stop the progression of this disease.

No matter what works for you and what doesn’t, one thing that every treatment plan consists of is exercise. We’re not talking going to the gym every day, but a walk every day could do the trick. Walking, yoga, or even meditation can form a healthy mind. Most treatments also consist of multivitamins and mineral supplements, which is a good start as well.

Stay Sharp

It is not a glamorous way of living, but through the proper care the quality of life for those battling this disease can be improved greatly. Keep an active mind and an active body, eat well, and consult a doctor for a written treatment plan to start stunting the progression of Dementia.
